This is a much larger pack than the Condor Assault pack, like almost twice as big. It's not just a step up, more like two -- so if you're looking for something "a bit" bgger than that size, you might want to keep looking. Although it measures only a couple of inches wider and taller, that difference seems huge, and it is a MUCH deeper pack when fully expanded. If you are looking for a day pack or even just an overnight pack, you might want to look further -- this is a full 3+ day pack. I strap this onto the back of my motorcycle every day and it carries all I need for summer/fall and expect it will carry all I'll need for the winter rides as well (bikers AND hikers will know what I mean). There are no pouches or zippered pockets in the main or secondary bag, only the larger of the two outside compartments, and those are more for pens, glasses, etc. There IS a 5th zippered compartment that is between the backpad and main compartment, meant for a water bladder (2.5L should fit easily) and you'd probably be able to get a 14" laptop in there (Surface Pro 3-4, easy; 15+" not sure). But, if you want a fairly lightweight bag with some size flexibility that can handle a 2-3 day outing including clothes, small camp gear, a couple of MRE's, bedroll (straps on bottom), jacket, etc OR a bag you can cinch up and use for a day or overnight trip, this is a very good all-around bag. If your backpacking budget only allows for one backpack, you wouldn't go wrong with this if your trips are limited to weekends and somebody else packs the tent (no extra straps, except at bottom as mentioned).Pros: Lots of room when needed, adjustable to work for smaller loads but you're going to have alot of "extra bag". PALS 1" webbing on front of 2 exterior compartments and along both sides of main bag; 1 D-ring on each shoulder strap and vertical (only) PALS webbing. Waist strap: if you have a waist largr than 40", you'll need an extension - standard 1.5" (38-40mm) clips should do.Cons: I HATE the small, nylon zippers on everything except the main bag -- those are a failure waiting to happen, and the main reason I only gave this bag a 4-Star review. Thos e zippers simply do not last and do not hold up. Yes, they are lighter and cheaper -- bit I would have paid $10 more for this bag without complaining if they'd said the 2ndary and/or larger compartment bag had the heavire-duty zipper. As it is, only the main compartment does. Of cource, YKK is the gold standard, so at this price I wasn't expecting ultra-rugged... but for a couple of bucks, they could have installed the heavier-duty zippers and taken this pack to the next level. Instead, they did the clearly overseas cheapo thing. If you are in and out of the 2ndary and two smaller compartments, I just don;t think these "dress pant" zippers will hold up (my opinion based on ALOT of hiking and biking).I will soon be taking this pack into the Bridger-Teton wilderness for 3 days, Fall 2016... I will update this review on results, if I can figure out how, on my return.Cons: No useul internal compartments
