TOP LINE/BOTTOM LINE - this is an amazing bag. I admit to being a bag/luggage junkie. I do travel a lot, and I am an industrial designer, and I do sometimes carry weird things in my luggage, but I have so many bags and rolling thingies and duffels etc that I would need to live 4 lives to use them all. Recently I was traveling and saw a guy w this bag and had to ask him about it. He was one happy camper. I ordered it from my phone, from Amazon, before we took off. I am in love.LOOK, FIT & FINISH: It's beautiful, it's leather, and leather weighs more than nylon or other synthetics, so that is the price of admission. It is not too heavy at all, and everything else makes up for that small issue. There's lots of well thought out pockets. The zippers and all construction are all high quality. Padding is nice inside - for tablets, laptops, etc. There's even a snap-removable extra-goodies-pouch inside.BACKPACK/SHOULDER BAG CONVERSION: The backpack strap option is amazingly well done. Years ago Eagle Creek offered a similar feature on a somewhat smaller nylon bag that I use EVERY day, and I've traveled around the world w it. This McKlein bag nails that feature in a larger, leather bag. When the backpack straps aren't being used they tuck away in a rear compartment. Wonderful. I did find that the backpack straps are simply too long for me (I do not have linebacker shoulders, so even when long-sized for use over a heavy coat, there was too much leftover hanging strap when adjusted for me), I marked the max size I wanted and then had a shoe repair guy cut the two straps and finish and sew the ends. You'd never know. Fits for me now on all occasions. One other reviewer sewed some velcro to keep the extra lengths from dangling. This is definitely NOT a big issue. This is a great bag you will love it. When I brought it to the shoe repair guy for the $10 cutting/sewing, he was asking all about the bag, commenting on the leather and quality of all fittings.MAIDEN VOYAGES: It's first BIG business trip is coming up this week, and then there'll be two more the next two weeks. Looking forward to it. BTW - the description is wrong - it is NOT 22" x 47" - that would be one giant backpack! It's a great size and surely will fit a nicely. It doesn't have an outside water bottle carrier. I can live without that. It also doesn't have a strap to allow for it to be quickly slung over a rolling bag's upright handle. I went online to [...] and for about $5.00 order an adjustable nylon strap that is lightweight and quickly clips diagonally to some of the existing beautiful strap rings on the bag. Problem solved. I love this bag.I have owned several laptop backpacks prior to buying the McKlein. All of the ones I've owned previously had the "university" look to them, prompting comments from people at work like "headed to class?" So, I've been looking for something that looked more professional, and at the same time, was more compact in appearance. The McKlein achieves that. The leather looks nice and the compartments are well thought out for the most part. It is very compact - it doesn't jut out really far from your back like lots of backpacks do. The zippers are sturdy and the backpack straps are comfortable - although not heavily padded. The messenger bag strap option is one that I've found I don't ever use - I've just used the backpack straps. I'm happy with the purchase after many months of using it now.Pros - Appearance, compact size, zippers, nice compartmentsCons - No water bottle pocket like most backpacks. For a leather pack, maybe this isn't a bad idea. It also doesn't have any MP3 ports built into it. But, I haven't noticed that really bothering me at all.As an urbanite, I have tried many versions of the backpack briefcase. When you add up the cost of these many versions it makes the cost of this quality item worth it! (i.e. I spent $75 on one whose top handle came off after only a couple of weeks!) This black leather 3 way computer briefpack is hands down the best model on the market. Leather, VERY well crafted and designed, everything is quality on this. If you don't want to use it as a backpack, you can zip up the straps and convert to a briefcase. It fits all of my elecronics, laptop, ipad, etc. With plenty of room for files, paperwork, etc. I can't say enough good things about this item. It is the best! The only issue I have with it is that it is big, in the sense that it has several compartments. Easy to accumulate a lot of crap so make sure you organize it (purge) every once in a while. Highly recommend!Great back pack. Excellent construction. I have used this pack for many years and it has held up well. Very useful for my airplane travel where I have hands free for other luggage and can carry this on loaded with my things. For going to and from home and my office it holds my large laptop, mouse and office supplies. I would highly recommend this five star back pack for office, home and travel. My current one has been used daily for many years and still functions and looks great.This is a very convenient briefcase, with lots of storage space, for almost everything (laptop, folders, books, gadgets, docs etc.) You can even use it for a short travel. But this means that it is a big bag, a heavy one and to be honest a bit ugly.In general is a very practical bag, that allows to carry almost everything you need (and may not need). If it lasts for long it will be a good purchase.I have only owned this back for a couple weeks now but i can tell that it was a great purchase. Not only does it protect my laptop nicely but it has plenty of room for all other accessories from school books to gadgets. The leather is very nice and durable. I would recommend this bag to anyone looking for a quality bag. I for-see this lasting 10 years from now!After several bag orders and returns...this McKlein is a keeper....my initial reaction was that the Lincoln was too big and heavy....and look like a man's briefbag....but the strap made carrying the bag easier and more comfortable...and a few girly charms made me carry the bag like a lady...the compartments were desperately needed...I need to order 2 so that I can have it when I need another one...????????.This is just what I was looking for. It fits my 15.6 laptop with room to spare. Has a lot of storage space and pockets and it looks professional. It is not difficult for me to carry when fully loaded even though I am petite . I would definitely purchase this again although I don't think I will have to anytime soon as it is so well built.
